An Interrogation

Rookie inspector meets suave suspect. Who will crumble first?

Inspired by real life events, this taut police drama set entirely in a stark interrogation room is written by Jamie Armitage (co-director of hit musical SIX), directed by Krish Natarajan and presented by Sight Lines. Live CCTV footage gives the audience slightly unnerving macro and micro perspectives of the events unfolding before our eyes.

What appears to be a routine questioning over the case of a missing woman turns into a careful excavation of gender and class as a game of words ensues between interviewer and interviewee, leaving no one unscathed.

It's powered by compelling performances by Nadya Zaheer, Salif Hardie and Lim Kay Siu but could do with a touch more subtlety in its sound effects and character transitions. A crisp, competent production that continues the company's now-signature mystery theme.

The Crystalwords score: 3/5
